After the release of the 2025 BECE results, the next critical step for candidates and parents is to check the SHS School Placement. The Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS), managed by the Ghana Education Service (GES), automates the process based on candidates’ BECE performance, choices, and available vacancies.

The SHS placement process has been streamlined to make it easier for students and parents to access it via phone. Whether you’re using a smartphone or a simple feature phone, all you need is:

  • A digital device like a smartphone
  • An internet connection
  • Your index number
  • And access code

Being placed is just the beginning, your next chapter starts with being fully prepared for SHS. If you are not automatically placed, don’t panic, self-placement gives you another opportunity to choose from schools with available space.

When Will the 2025 SHS Placement Be Released?

The BECE 2025 was conducted in June, and results are expected to be released between July ending and mid August or early September 2025. After the release of the BECE results, the SHS placment would then follow.

What is the SHS Placement?

The Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) places BECE candidates into:

  • Senior High Schools (SHS)
  • Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions

Placement is based on

  • BECE aggregate score (best 6 subjects)
  • Candidate’s school choices (up to 6)
  • Available vacancies in chosen schools
  • Category of the school (A, B, C)
  • Residential status (Day or Boarding)

Whats New About The 2025 Placement Process

  • The Ministry of Education (MoE) is expected to waive the cost of checking second-cycle school placements for candidates who took the current year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
  • This expectation arises from recent updates made to the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) website and adjustments in the procedure for accessing placement results for Senior High Schools (SHS), Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS), and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.
  • Previously, students needed to provide a 10-digit BECE index number, append the last two digits of the exam year, and input a 12-digit voucher code to access their placement. However, the new system simplifies the process by allowing candidates to only enter their index number and a free access code to view their placement status.
  • The free access code will be sent via SMS to the mobile number students used during their BECE registration
