Below is the Ghana Armed Forces 2025 Recruitment Eligibility Criteria and Application Procedures.

The Ghana Armed Forces has issued detailed qualifications and application guidelines for its 2025 enlistment exercise, specifying requirements across various military branches and specialist positions.

General  Eligibility

These are the baseline requirements that apply to pretty much everyone who wants to join as a Regular Cadet. If you don’t meet these, you won’t get past the first screening.

You must be a Ghanaian citizen by birth. No exceptions here. You also need to be of good character, which sounds vague but basically means having a clean record and good references.

If you’re applying as a Regular Cadet, you cannot be married. This rule doesn’t apply to Short Service Commission applicants, but it’s strict for regular entry. You also can’t be bonded to any other organization or institution.

Age matters too. For Regular Cadets, you must be at least 18 years old but not older than 26 by March 31, 2026. That’s your window. Short Service Commission applicants have different age limits depending on their field, which I’ll get to later.

Physical fitness is non-negotiable. You need to be medically fit according to Ghana Armed Forces standards, and you must pass the Pre-Joining Fitness Test. Start preparing now if you haven’t already.

Height requirements vary by role. For most positions, males need to be at least 1.68m tall, while females need to be 1.60m. But if you’re eyeing the Military Police, the bar is higher. Male applicants need to be 1.75m and females 1.70m.

Academic Requirements

Your education forms the foundation of your application. The Ghana Armed Forces accepts various educational qualifications, and you need to meet at least one of these standards.

For BECE, you need six credits including English, Mathematics, and Science. If you have WASSCE, you need six credits with grades not less than C6, including Core English, Core Mathematics, and Core Science.

SSSCE holders need six credits with grades not less than D in the same core subjects. For those with GCE O and A Levels, you need five credits at O Level including English and Mathematics, then at least a D in three subjects at A Level.

If you have just A Level qualifications, three credits including General Paper will work. For degree holders, you need a First Degree with at least Second Class Lower from a recognized university.

One important note here: transcripts and attestations won’t be accepted. You need the actual certificates.

Regular Commission – Army

The Army offers multiple specializations, and each has specific degree requirements. Let me break down what each branch is looking for.

Infantry, Armour, Artillery, and ASOB

These are your combat arms. You need a First Degree with Second Class Lower or better from an accredited university. The degree can be in any field, as long as it meets the grade requirement.

How to Apply for Ghana Armed Forces Recruitment

Ready to start your application? The process is straightforward, but you need to follow each step carefully. Missing something could delay your application or disqualify you entirely.

Step 1: Purchase Your Application Voucher

First things first, you need to buy an application voucher. The cost is GH₵250.00, and you can only get it from specific Post Offices across the country.

Step 2: Access the Portal

  1. Log on to the recruitment portal http://apply.mil.gh with any of the following browsers:(1) Google Chrome. (2) Mozilla Firefox.

Step 3: Review Requirements

Before you click anything, take time to read through all the entry requirements. I know it seems boring, but this step prevents mistakes that could cost you your application.

Step 4: Begin Your Application

Find the Apply Now button and click it. This takes you to the applicant authentication page where the real work begins.

Online Application Process

Enter Your Voucher Details

You’ll need the Serial Number and PIN code from your voucher. Enter these carefully. Then select which Arm of Service you want to join and what Type of Commission you’re applying for. Double-check everything before you hit Submit.

Fill Out Your Personal Information

The application has three pages of information you need to complete. Pay attention to what each page asks for.

Page 1 Details

Choose the specific vacancy you’re interested in. This is where you select your desired position within your chosen arm of service.

Provide all the other required information on this page. You’ll also pick your preferred screening centre here. Remember, it’s either Southern Centre in Accra or Northern Centre in Kumasi, depending on your region.

Page 2 Details

This page needs your photograph. Upload a scanned passport-sized photo that’s 200×180 pixels. Make sure the image is clear and recent.

Enter a valid email address. Use one you check regularly because important updates will come through email.

For your phone number, use the format 233244123456. That’s the country code followed by your actual number without any spaces or dashes.

Complete any other fields on this page as required.

Page 3 Details

Here’s where your academic information comes in. Enter your grades for the three core subjects from your WASSCE or SSCE results. That’s Core Mathematics, Core English, and Core Science.

You’ll need your WASSCE Index Number and Certificate Serial Number. Have your certificate handy so you can copy these correctly.

Select your Tertiary Institution from the dropdown menu. Then enter your Graduating GPA or CWA exactly as it appears on your transcript.

Upload Your Documents

You need to upload scanned copies of three documents. Your WASSCE Certificate and your First Degree or Certificate.

Here’s something really important about the file uploads. Each document must be smaller than 1 MB. If your scan is larger, you need to reduce the file size before uploading.

All documents must be in JPEG format. Not PDF, not PNG, just JPEG. If you have PDFs, you’ll need to convert them.

Review Your Application

After you’ve filled everything out, click the Preview button. This shows you a summary of everything you’ve entered.

Read through it carefully. Check your name spelling, your grades, your contact information. Everything needs to be accurate.

If you spot any errors, use the back button to go fix them. Don’t rush through this step.

Submission and Confirmation

Submit Your Application

When you’re confident everything is correct, click the Submit button.

Almost immediately, you should receive both an email and a text message. These will contain your unique system-generated Identification Number. This number is crucial, so save it somewhere safe.

Print Your Application Report

After submission, print the generated report. You’ll need to present this if you get shortlisted for the next stage.

Lost your printout? Don’t panic. Go back to the enlistment portal and click Check Details. Enter your unique ID and you can reprint it anytime.

Keep Your Voucher

Don’t throw away your electronic voucher after using it. You need to keep it because officials will inspect it at every stage of the selection process. Treat it like an important document.

Remember the Deadline

All applications must be submitted by Wednesday, December 24th, 2025. Don’t wait until the last day because technical issues could prevent you from completing your application on time.

If you submit early, you avoid the rush and potential server overload that happens when everyone tries to apply at the deadline.

Know Your Screening Centre

The selection process happens at two main locations. Where you go depends on which region you’re from.

If you’re applying from Greater Accra, Eastern, Volta, Central, Oti, Western, or Western North Regions, your screening centre is in Accra. This is the Southern Centre.

For applicants from Northern, Ashanti, Savannah, North East, Upper East, Upper West, Bono, Bono East, or Ahafo Regions, you’ll go to Kumasi. That’s the Northern Centre.

Final Application Tips

Start gathering your documents now. Get your certificates scanned and saved in JPEG format at the right file size. This way, when the portal opens, you’re ready to go.

Make sure your passport photo meets the specifications. If you need to take a new one, do it soon.

Have your voucher purchased well in advance. The Post Offices might get busy as the application period approaches.

Write down your unique ID number in multiple places once you get it. Store it in your phone, email it to yourself, write it in a notebook. You don’t want to lose this number.

Check your email regularly after applying. Important updates about the selection process will come through email and SMS.

Your application is the first impression the Ghana Armed Forces will have of you. Take your time, be thorough, and make sure everything is accurate. This is your future you’re working toward, so give it the attention it deserves.
